Description:

CNX Gas Corporation (formerly Consol Energy) needed to expand its plant at Pine Bank Compressor Station in Greene County, Pennsylvania. Because CNX was aware of Augusta’s experience and expertise in dealing with similar and aggressive schedule-driven projects and as a result of the success of the Grant CS Amines Plant Expansion; they chose to partner with Augusta Engineering to provide all the detailed design necessary for installation of the new equipment.

The installation of a new Ariel JGK/4 compressor driven by a Siemens 1750 horsepower 4160 Volt motor at Pine Bank Compressor Station increased the plant’s capacity from 20 mmscfd to 30 mmscfd.

The expansion at Pine Bank now allows the station to bring in coal bed methane gas via new pipeline, through the new compressor which in turn flows through the new Amines Plant for CO2 removal. The exit gas from the new facility is then blended with the existing gas exiting the station.

Augusta’s responsibility in addition to supplementing CNX’s project management (during construction) was to provide all the civil/structural, piping and electrical design. Augusta also specified all the filter separators, air compressors and tankage, as well as handled procurement activities.

The new facility includes four new equipment skids, eight new processing columns, two air coolers, a reboiler, a new motor control center, five new storage tanks and a 1750 hp compressor. The project has been constructed and was put into operation in Spring of 2006.
