Description:

Empire State Pipeline’s Oakfield grassroots mainline transmission station project is a part of the Empire Connector Project. Augusta was awarded the project at Oakfield based upon their engineering and design methodology.

The Oakfield Project will involve the grass roots construction of a dual unit compressor station with two 10K HP turbines allowing for a total nominal station horsepower of 20,620.

The project at Oakfield involves engineering, design, procurement and construction inspection. The station will be fully automated and equipped with discharge gas cooling, as well as ancillary buildings required to support and maintain the site equipment.

The facilities include: (2) 10K Taurus Units, discharge gas cooling, an electrical substation, a main compressor building and ancillary buildings, power wiring, instrumentation, foundations and structural supports, a standby generator, piping systems and ESD, gas and fire detection systems.

The site plan will be arranged to facilitate future expansion of the plant, if required. Layout will take into account the potential for future compressors and cooler capacity. Main header piping layout, air inlet and exhaust and building locations will be arranged such that future expansion can be easily accommodated without convoluted pipe tie-ins or relocation of existing piping headers, utilities or buildings.

Currently the conceptual design is complete and Augusta is developing the preliminary design package. Detailed design will began in May, 2007 with construction beginning in April, 2008.
