Augusta Project Number:

Description:

This 2002 project involved the installation of (2) skid mounted, multi-service, 6,000 HP electric motor-driven, reciprocating compressor units at Columbia’s Downingtown Compressor Station to replace two existing 1250 HP integral compressor units. This replacement increased capacity for Marcus Hook and Mantua Creek markets.

Station work included a new compressor building to house the new compressors, new gas coolers and inlet filter/ separators and a general replacement of yard process and utility piping and systems. The metal compressor building (100 ft. 6 in. x 60 ft. x 25 ft.) included acoustical insulation, forced ventilation, eutectic fire and electronic gas detection and lighting.

A new substation was designed to supply 4.16kV power for the two 6,000 HP compressor motors and new and existing compressor station loads. Augusta was also responsible for writing specifications and developing the electrical one line diagrams for the new substation.
