Description:

Augusta Engineering provided the engineering, design and construction support services to improve the reliability and efficiency of station operations through the upgrade of the station electrical system and associated mechanical systems.

The project consisted of providing a new in-coming electrical service, new 480-Volt and 208- Volt Motor Control Center, new electrical switchgear, a new engine-driven generator, a new 24-volt DC power system and a new transfer switch. Other upgrades included the installation of a new after cooler and air drier on the station air system, replacement of jack shaft drives with electric motors and the general upgrading of interior and exterior building and yard lighting, including emergency lighting, throughout the station. In addition to the electrical equipment, a new Bristol control system, new ESD, gas detection and station communication equipment were also provided.

The Cleveland Electrical Rebuild also included and introduced to the client an overhead cable tray system with associated support structures to provide a wiring path between the various buildings and equipment. This eliminated the need for underground conduits and provided additional capacity for future expansion.
