Description:

Augusta Engineering is in the process of designing a Walk and Ride (recreational) Bridge for the township of Clendenin, West Virginia. The bridge is a suspension type bridge and expands the Elk River at Clendenin. The bridge will not be used for motorized traffic, rather to support recreational fishing, leisure walking and bike riding trails. The bridge will span approximately 240 ft. of the Elk River from bank to bank abutments and is to be 10 to 12 ft wide.

Augusta Engineering has been implemental in supporting Committee 100 to reach their goals. One of Augusta’s employees has held a Technical Advisor position on Committee 100 since it’s inception in 2003. As technical advisor he has been involved in the discussions and planning pertaining to several projects that the organization has targeted in their long range goals. Some of these goals include: Senior Citizens Housing, Community Services Building (remodeling the old Clendenin High School), Residential Commercial Park, ATV Park to include camping and hiking and a walking and canoeing trail which will run from Clendenin to Queen Shoals, West Virginia, approximately 8 miles, paralleling the Elk River.

Money for this bridge project is being granted by the Department of Transportation. Additionally, the Committee has asked Augusta to do layouts for the business incubator portion of this improvement agenda. Funding will be supplied for the Senior Citizens Housing Community Services Building from Charleston’s Governor’s Office and the office of Shelley Moore Capito. Additional projects have expected duration of 10+ years to completion.
