Description:

Committee 100 chose Augusta Engineering & Design, Inc. to renovate the old Clendenin High School building into a development center for community activities and small businesses.

The school was owned by the Kanawha County School Board and private landowners the Koontz family, owner who turned their ownership over to Committee 100. Project funding has been obtained via several sources including: the Kanawha County Commission, BIDCO (CADCO), Kanawha County School Board and HUD. Many of the agencies required forms to be filed and requested activities (such as partial upfront design and estimates of construction) to be completed before funding was granted and released.

Augusta assisted with all of the activities required to obtain necessary funding and also participated in attending meetings with outside approving committees (BIDCO, Kanawha County School Board, Koontz, et al...). The upfront design work was completed enough to allow committees and agencies funding the project too visualize the required work and complete necessary paperwork for grant and loan filing.

Employees of Augusta have held contractor construction bid meetings and have also been involved with building renovation work already in progress, serving as project managers.
