Utilities & Infrastructure
Over the past few years Augusta has branched out into the areas of Infrastructure and Utilities with their work for federal, state and community development projects. Augusta has nationwide experience, however a primary concern remains to provide engineering and design services for West Virginia projects focusing on local and statewide development.
Augusta’s involvement in community, state and federal projects is two-fold; encouraging growth and development, while also providing needed services and enhancing the economy.
The majority of the infrastructure and utilities work is handled by personnel in Augusta’s Civil & Structural Group. However, Augusta has also developed partnerships with firms to provide turn-key work on an as need basis. A key focus of Augusta is to partner and work with other organizations and companies who are also dedicated to economic health and growth.
Example projects:
- Kanawha River Locks Project
Augusta provided engineering support to the United Sates Army Corps of Engineers for a new barge locks facility located in Marmet, West Virginia. Support consisted of soils and concrete engineering and testing, placement, progress reporting and contractor monitoring for quality control and assurance (QA).
- KVLPAD River Facilities Development
This project involved assisting Kanawha Valley Local Port Authority District (KVLPAD) with site support, design of loading, unloading, storage, drumming and distribution facilities, holding site review and facilities assessments
- Business Incubator
Working with the Clendenin, WV township, Committee 100 (a business development corp.) Augusta assisted in the development of a business incubator from a building donated by the Kanawha County Board of Education. The building required major remodeling and upgrades to a usable state, requiring grant capital.
Due to the quality of work performed by Augusta personnel Clendenin’s Committee 100 requested that Augusta Engineering continue as their engineering company of record for various other developmental projects. Slated projects include development of: walk and ride trails, a walk and ride bridge across the Elk River and a 1000 acre park to include hiking, camping and an ATV trail system.
-
Riverfront Development
Augusta Engineering is also involved in the proposed development of a large river front project, located at Charleston WV., consisting of 200 +/- boat slips and three new buildings.
- Liberty Street Pumping Station
Augusta is providing professional engineering support for the South Charleston Sanitary Board during construction activities of a new pumping station and also advising board on matters of concern that could affect the project.
